Volume 1 ESTC No: T133752 ‘Anonymous. By Thomas Pent. The titlepages are engraved ... Ten supplemental plates with seven explanatory pages of letterpress were published to accompany the first part of volume 2, [present in our copy]. Pent's tour in Wales actually took place in 1773.
Volume 2: ESTC T213985. ‘Anonymous. By Thomas Pent. The titlepages are engraved. Vol. 2 has an additional titlepage, engraved, reading: 'The journey to Snowdon' with the imprint: London: printed by Henry Hughes, 1781.’
The journey to Snowdon' was also separately issued in 1781 (ESTC N498600), then reissued as part of volume 2 of the first edition.
Pennant was accompanied on his travels by John Lloyd (1733-93), the text of his volumes was well-written and clearly illustrated (the drawings were by his servant Moses Griffith), which make them, among detailed surveys, the best as well as the earliest of their kind.
