Textual browning, contemporary calf, some wear to boards, upper joint lightly cracked to vol. 1., gilt ruling with gilt lettered title labels to spines, sl. loss to heads of sl. marked spines except vol. 2. With the pencil signature of ‘R.N. Green-Armytage Bath’ to the free end paper of each volume. Robert North Green-Armytage (fl 1918-1956) was a lawyer and book collector. A friend of Edward Thomas, friend and correspondent of Walter de la Mare. Thomas Amory (c. 1691–1788) writer with an Irish background, thought to have lived in Dublin and later in Westminster. He first published the above work in 1766, describing an education at Trinity College, Dublin, and offering vivid accounts of life in the Irish capital and among the Gaelic aristocracy in the west of Ireland.
