Some light browning, ex.-libris Robert Mowbray, original blind embossed cloth with gilt device to upper board, some fraying to edges, recased with some loss to original cloth of spine and with modern gilt lettered label. G & M. 79. ‘Hewson was a pupil of the Hunters. In 1769 his memoir on the lymphatics in fishes won for him the Copley Medal of the Royal Society. His most important work is probably his ‘Experimental Inquiry into the Properties of the Blood’ 1771.’
