Lejeune, original coloured pictorial limp upper wrapps. bound in, November issue lacking upper wrapp., sl. dampstained, lower wormed along top edge with worming sl. affecting last few leaves, sl. brittleness of paper to head of gutter margin in both the September and December issues, portion cut from p.57-8 in February issue, shaken, bound together in soiled rubbed and dampstained cloth, faded and stained to spine. Photoplay was one of the first American film fan magazines. It was founded in 1911 in Chicago. For most of its run, Photoplay was published by Macfadden Publications. In 1921 Photoplay established what is considered the first significant annual movie award- the Photoplay Magazine Medal of Honor. The magazine ceased publication in 1980.
