Some light browning, original gilt lettered dec. cloth, corners frayed with cloth loss, spines chipped, vol 1. with ink staining to edges of boards intruding sl. onto spine also with loss to lower joint, some discolouring to boards. George Moritz Ebers (1837-98). German Egyptologist and author. After his first travels in Egypt Ebers wrote’ Egypt and the Book of Moses, 1868’. He was professor of Egyptology at Leipzig, 1870-89, revisiting Egypt in 1872-73. He discovered at Thebes one of the finest examples of Papyri-Papyrus Ebers, described in the above work.
