3rd Ed. xx + 580pp. Some light browning, marbled e.ps. and edges, contemporary double gilt rule edged calf, minor fading and marking, faded gilt compartments with chipped gilt lettered title label to spine. Inscribed ‘John Henry Scheider from his sincere friend Charles Tottenham On his leaving Eton Election 1862.’ Sent to the Peninsula in 1812 as deputy Judge-Advocate-General to the forces there, he remained until 1814 at headquarters with Wellington who thought highly of his services. In August 1813 he was taken prisoner but was exchanged almost immediately. The above journal consists of descriptive letters sent to his step-mother.
