(Baby’s Book).

[MANUSCRIPT] BABY’S VISIT TO CHESTER

From January 1865 to February 1866.
37cm x 29cm. 14 leaves written in ink on the rectos with 9 original coloured drawings, some ills. affixed scrap book style and 3 original photographs (one in poor condition touched up by hand); bound in paper wrapps., badly torn, foxed, mounted on muslin, edges of all leaves strengthened with hand stitched cloth borders, upper cover detached and chipped with loss, disbound. A charming record by baby’s grand-mother of the child’s first visits to his family in Chester (consisting of the two [maternal?] grand-parents and three aunties) accompanied by his mother. The hand-writing is more accomplished than the draughtsmanship but still a facscinating, light-hearted survival.
