[Addison, Joseph].

Numb. I. On the State of the Peerage With Remarks upon the Plebeian. London: Printed and Sold by J[ames] Roberts 1719.
1st Ed. [iv] + 24pp. With half title. Dec. initial letter. Some browning, inscription to half title chipped with marginal loss, disbound. Apparently Four Numbers were issued. ESTC T115515 ‘Attributed to Joseph Addison (cf. DNB). With a half-title. At end of imprint in square brackets: Price 6d. Published in response to Richard Steele’s ’The Plebeian’; cf. also ’The Patrician’, by ’One who is neither a knight, nor a member of the House of Commons’, which is sometimes attributed to Robert, Viscount Molesworth. Although numbered, suggesting it was published serially, the presentation appears to ape that of ’The Plebeian’ and also suggests that these were simply numbered tracts published in response to ’The Plebeian’.
