Alessandro Piccolomini (15081579) Italian astronomer and philosopher from Siena, who promoted the popularization in the vernacular of Latin and Greek scientific and philosophical treatises. His translations included Book xiii of Ovid's Metamorphoses and book vi of the Aeneid.
