He travelled through Epirus and Thessaly, and as far North as Mount Athos. [The above] is a most interesting work, not as a description of travels providing extensive details of life and manners in Turkey and Greece but as an attempt to analyse the relationshp between these customs and the manner of thought in the Orient.
