Some browning and with usual offsetting, ex-libris Judge William Stevenson Owen, early initials to head of, paper split to firm hinges, contemporary red straight grained morocco with intricate blind and gilt tooling to edges of boards, some rubbing to extremities, intricate gilt compartments with gilt lettering to lightly sunned spines, a.e.g., contained in modern slipcases. Abbey Scenery 17. ‘The following views [13] were intended for inclusion, but never issued, a note at the end of the first volume index (where the missing plates are listed) stating ‘The Publishers having been disappointed of Plates for the subjects marked *, it is their intention to deliver them hereafter to the purchasers of the work at a moderate charge ... This work was originally projected in quarto with the views coloured ... but only a fragment appeared containing six views in all ...’ With the plate of St Agatha’s Abbey supplied in duplicate not listed or noted in Abbey.
