Margins very lightly browned with some very occasional light sporadic spotting, sl. ink scribble to lower margin of p.96, new e.ps., rebound in modern half calf with marbled boards, gilt ruled raised bands and leather title label to spine. Text volume only, without the scarce volume of 60 plates. The second edition of this famous and influential textbook for industrial drawing, a milestone in the history of engineering, published by the renowned engraver and designer César-Nicolas-Louis Leblanc (1787-1835), who lectured at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris. The text volume only which describes and explains the illustrative apparatus. The first edition of which had appeared in 1830, and its success was immediate and wide. In his atelier Leblanc trained numerous engineers, among them notably Eugène Armengaud.
