Sabin notes five plates in the first edition, frontispiece only in the second edition, Defending the practice of slavery throughout, ‘negro slaves are not worked and flogged alternately ... they smile as often and heartily as the labouring people of this or any equally happy country ..’ with details of plantations, sugar-making, accounts of floggings and punishments, fauna and flora, Kingston, climate, religion etc.
